Tips for Distributing Business Cards
Keep a pile of cards in all places you might need them - in your car, your jacket pocket, your briefcase, your purse or wallet, in your planner, at home, your briefcase, your gym bag, your wife's purse, next to the front door on the table where you keep your keys, your desk drawer, your secretary's desk, the pocket of your coat, your suitcase, everyplace you can think of. Then you'll always have some on hand when you meet a prospect.
Use proper business card protocol. On every occasion you give a business card, ask for a business card. When given a business card, don't just take it and place it in your pocket. Make the person feel notable by looking at their card for a few seconds. You might see something that could be a subject of conversation. Write observations on the card such as date, place and common points of interest. These remarks will prove priceless when following up with that person. This also demonstrates a genuine interest in the other person. Then place it in your wallet. This lets them know they exist in in a special place with you.
Have your partner, family, and acquaintances carry some of your cards with them in case they meet someone who might be interested in your product or service.
